Reduction in Diskspace Courtesy of Angelfire/Tripod

This just in from the Angelfire/Tripod conglomerate:

“Beginning on April 30th, disk space on Tripod/Angelfire’s free service will be limited to 20 MB. After this date, members of our free service who exceed the new limit will need to remove files or upgrade to Angelfire Plus.”

I have an Angelfire page which exceeded 20MB. So I spent alot of the morning reducing my graphics to reasonable size. I also took down some audio files, which drastically reduced my disk quota.
This is a bit drastic from Tripod/Angelfire. They initually advertised 50MB free space. Now they’re cutting back. I guess it was used and abused by users for putting pirated mp3s on there. Also the internet advertising is just not what it used to be, so they’ve got to save costs somehow. Will it drive users away? Maybe. I’d imagine some of the bigger pages have been forgotten…..or have been mirrored elsewhere.
I see the Goo Goo Dolls are set to release a new album, “Gutterflower” on April 9th. So I guess we’ll hear more overplayed junk on the radio. “Slide” and “Iris” were good songs, but were waaaaayyyyy overplayed. I soon grew tired of them. The same thing will probably happen this summer also. Or the album could fail miserably.

Bug Fixed

Finally figured out what was wrong with me not being able to view my webpage. I had to change around some settings on my Internet Explorer. Funny how Netscape, FTP, Ping, and Tracert’s internet connection all have to do with Internet Explorer settings. Sometimes I think Microsoft has too much control over my computer.

Can’t We All Just Get Along?

Well I can’t seem to get to this page, among several other pages. Other users can get to it, so I guess it must be Comcast’s problem. It’s been unaccessible for several hours. Ironically I can update it through Blogger.
I really wish I had this weblog during college. It’s been interesting going back and reading old entries. I’m not sure how long Blogger can continue to provide this free service. Seems like a lot of free FTP bandwidth.
I’ve been thinking about this whole Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Here’s what needs to happen.

  • Palestinians should stop sending the suicide bombers. These bombers only reduce legitimacy of their statehood cause in the eyes of western democracies. Civilized people don’t use suicide bombers. I still haven’t come to grips with the mentality of the suicide bombers.
  • Israel needs to pull their tanks back to their own territory. They are only causing more anger in the eyes of the Palestinians.
  • Palestine should have its own state. These people have shown that they cannot live in peace with Israel. So let them have their state on their own.
  • Jerusalem should be governed by UN representatives. Since it is considered holy by 3 religions, no specific country should have control over it.
  • The US should stop sending money to Israel. It has caused us greater harm than good by doing this. I see no need to continue to support Israel. We only do it because the Jewish lobby is so powerful. Also US tourists like to visit holy sites within a friendly country.

Alot of things need to come together in order to achieve peace in the Middle East. For the most part, Americans do not understand why countries are fighting over desert territory the size of New Jersey. But to each his own.

Citizen Kane

I saw Citizen Kane tonight. The American Film institute voted it the #1 film of all time. Was it the best in my mind? Not likely. It had its moments. But like most old films, it was slow and boring at times. Audiences years ago must have been more easily amused. Now we need action in order not to fall asleep in the movie.
Anyways, back to Citizen Kane. The whole premise of the movie was about a man who gains everything, yet in reality has nothing. His childhood was taken away (literally sold) from him at an early age. It’s a simple concept which many movies have imitated.

April Fools

Well today is April Fool’s Day. Lots of websites including Ebay and MIT put up fake websites as a joke. Maybe I should have done the same thing here. I thought about writing some really strange blogger entry, but that might cause rumors to get started. Some people can’t take a joke.
The Vultures are circling. Remember that dead cat I found on the side of my road? Well it has attracted some large birds. I wouldn’t exactly deem them vultures, but they are a close relative….perhaps buzzard is a more appropriate term.
Boy gets caught stealing AOL users’ credit cards; says AOL users are dumb……well of course AOLers are dumb. This kid is even dumber.
Woman drives her car into Target Store; stops at Lawn & Garden….it is surprising that Target’s ailses are large enough to drive a car through. Usually I can’t even get around that slow poke person at Walmart.

No Pictures of Easter Eggs

I stopped by church today to photograph the annual egg hunt. But I came too late. It was raining and they had already had the egg hunt by the time I arrived. So no photographs…..
Bustin Out!….wha?? This is the first time I’ve ever seen the word “Bustin” used on the marquee of a church sign. My guess is that it was some kind of concert. This being Easter weekend, maybe they’re planning on “bustin” Jesus out of the Roman prison.
This is just wrong.….but slightly amusing. When you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go.
I’m going to Ottawa, Canada, in about a week. It’s a business trip, but I’m hoping to see some interesting places while I’m there. This will be my 3rd national capital I’ve been to – the others being Washington, DC (May 1996) and Beijing, China (May 2000). I hope to be updating my weblog while I’m there. Watch this space for updates.

Chreasters

Chreasters that’s what I call people who come to church only on Christmas and Easter. I guess they feel good about themselves since they do celebrate Christianity’s most important holidays, yet they don’t feel the need to attend church on a regular basis.
Easter is coming up. Growing up Church of Christ means never having to get up early for an Easter Sunrise service. I’m particularly thankful for that one. Churches of Christ don’t do anything special for Easter, except for the arbitrary egg hunt. When friends ask me why Churches of Christ don’t celebrate Easter, I usually explain it away by saying we celebrate Easter every Sunday, since the resurrection is so important to us.
Surprisingly Easter has been overshadowed by Christmas as the most celebrated Christian holiday. The funny thing is that I can find more Biblical justification for celebrating Easter rather than Christmas. Neither the word “Christmas” nor “December 25th” are never talked about in scriptures. Yet, we are told the disciples gathered on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7).
